By CBR Staff Writer

NEC said the new product integrates with existing hospital information systems and physician practice management systems to facilitate admission and release processes and reduce administrative costs and liability for health care organizations.

Lauryn Jones, general manager, health care solutions division, NEC, said: This solution addresses a number of challenges faced by health care providers by helping fulfill regulatory compliance and security requirements, improving workflow and enhancing the patients’ experience.

The NEC PersonalPass works with hardware including kiosks, desktops and Tablet PCs. Features of the product include a facility mapping device that enables patients to locate departments, patient identification in the form of fingerprint imaging, electronic signatures and card scanners, an appointments management tool and electronic consent forms. It also offers a payment method which allows patients to use a credit card to pay for their co-payments and outstanding balances.
