NEC Corp has rushed out another two 32-bit engineering workstations, this time based on the Motorola 68030 and rated at 7 MIPS, double the speed of the previous models: the two new models are the desktop EWS 4800/20 and the deskside 4800/60, designed for use in the laboratory automation and computer-aided engineering markets; they feature a high-speed graphics function that can draw 120,000 lines per second, sell for $28,700 and $50,000 respectively, and NEC is looking for sales of 10,000 of the things over two years.
