NEC RECEIVES ORDER FOR ITS SX MACHINE FROM SINGAPORE

By CBR Staff Writer

One problem posed to Cray Research Inc and Control Data’s ETA Systems by the Japanese thrust into supercomputers is the threat that they will lose sales in non-aligned countries, and NEC Corp has received an order for one of its SX machines from a Singapore government agency, the Computer Engineering Centre: the SX-1A, will be used for research and development, and also remote computing services; the SX-1A is at the bottom end of the range and is rated at 665MFLOPS; no value.
