NEC has reported consolidated sales of JPY825.4bn for the third quarter of fiscal 2010, a decrease of 13%, compared to JPY948.3bn for the same period last year, due to reduced demand from corporate capital investment restraint, which resulted in sales declines throughout all business segments.
The company posted an operating loss of JPY7.5bn, improved by JPY17.2bn, compared to an operating loss of JPY24.8bn for the same period a year ago. Net loss was JPY9.6bn, improved by JPY121.2bn, compared to a net loss of JPY130.8bn in the same quarter a year ago.
IT services segment sales were JPY189.9bn, IT products sales were JPY19.7bn and network systems were JPY178.7bn. Social infrastructure, personal solutions and electronic devices segment sales were JPY64.7bn, JPY176.7bn and JPY144.7bn, respectively.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010, the company forecasts sales of JPY3.66 trillion, operating income of JPY60bn and net income of JPY10bn.
