NEC Corp, Nissho Iwai Corp and NEC Home Electronics Ltd have scooped an order for 25,000 multimedia terminals and 30,000 cable modem systems worth 2.2bn yen ($18.9m) from Filipino internet provider, Destiny Cable Inc. Destiny is aiming to link 1 million subscribers across its hybrid fiber coax CATV network in the Philippines by the end of 1999 and the Japanese companies expect the contract, which covers until the end of 1999 to be followed up by further orders worth between 2bn and 4bn yen per year.
