NEC Corp has a new lap-top model and two compact desk-tops in its PC 9800 series: the PC 9801LV1 has a 10MHz V30 processor, 640Kb memory, two 1Mb 3.5 floppies and a 640 by 400 pixel LCD with eight shades of grey, at $2,700 undercutting by a whisker the 9801-compatible lap-top from Epson Corp; the desktop UV11 is a compact version of the UV at $2,070, and the CV21 is a 10 colour display version that looks like Apple’s Macintosh but with two 3.5 floppies on the front, and costs $2,775; all use the V30 chip – compatible with the 8086 – and ship this month.
