NEC Corp has implemented further organisational changes to promote the development of new products that are a fusion of communications and computers: three new divisions have been set up in the company’s Personal C&C Products group; the Personal C&C Business Development Office will take over the roles of the former Telecommunications Terminal Planning Office and the Personal Computer-Word Processor Planning Office, which is focused on the development of products of the future fusing the two disciplines; the Personal Computer Applied Technology Division’s mission is to provide better technical support to software developers and distributors of personal computer networking products; and the Overseas Personal Computer Sales Promotion Division is geared to lift overseas sales of the company’s personal computers by reacting faster to overseas market needs; in July last year, the two separate streams of the Communications and Computer Products Divisions in NEC were abolished and reorganised into three market-oriented groups Personal Systems, Computer Systems and Infrastructure; in addition to the current reorganisation in the Personal Systems group, further refining of the organisation can be expected in the Systems and Infrastructure groups NEC indicates.
