NEC DEVELOPS THREE-DIMENSIONAL GRAPHICS VIEWER FOR DESIGN, GAMES

By CBR Staff Writer

NEC Corp has developed a three-dimensional graphics viewer, a screen that is attached to a mobile mechanical arm. Objects on the screen can be displyed at any angle simple by moving the screen, thus assisting in the display of an object at any spatial or dimensional angle. The graphics are generated in real time as the screen moves, the image can be magnified or reduced and the image created at any given point can be recorded and replayed. Existing computer-aided design software can be converted for use with the three-dimensional viewer. NEC envisages that the three-dimensional display screen will be used as a computer-aided design tool; as a presentation device, and as a games machine or for educational purposes.
