TeleSP, a Brazilian telecom company funded by Spain’s Telefonica, must complete telephone linesinstall in Sao Paulo. The Brazilian Government has issued targets for new phone lines which must be met by 2003.
The Brazilian carrier has therefore chosen a division of NEC to use a code division multiple access (CDMA) based wireless access system to aid roll out the new lines.
NEC’s local network systems subsidiary will provide the access system, enabling the targets to be met.
Brazilian operators who meet the deadlines will be given the chance to enter other sectors of the market and offer service in new regions of the country.
