NEC BEGINS SHIPMENT OF THE ACOS SYTEM 3300

By CBR Staff Writer

And NEC Corp last month began shipments of the Acos System 3300 small mainframe, which is presumably derived either from the Honeywell Italia Level 62, which in the US and Europe was supplanted by DPS 4 and now DPS 4000, or the Bull Level 64, which was supplanted by the DPS 7: the 3300 succeeds the Acos System 410, NEC’s best selling mainframe, and since July, 500 orders have been received for the System 3300, 50% more than for the 410 at the same stage of marketing; NEC plans to ship 150 systems by year end and to get 4,000 of them away over three years.
