And there we were thinking that any customer for the thing would be welcomed with open arms… NEC Corp, which licensed the earlier version from Microsoft Corp, has asked IBM Japan Ltd for a licence to distribute the latest version of Japanese language OS/2, but a speedy agreement is not thought likely: IBM Japan says it will market the new OS/2 J2.0 despite the fact that NEC managed to shift 28,000 copies of the earlier version, and that while talks are under way, it doesn’t look like something that can be resolved in one or even two months, an IBM spokesman said.
