NEC ADDS THREE MODELS TO LOW END OF ACOS LINE

By CBR Staff Writer

At the same time that Bull was introducing its new line of DPS 7000 small mainframes, its Japanese former licencee, and now partner in Honeywell Bull Inc was launching comparable machines of its own design on the Japanese market. The new Acos 430 models are the 60, 70 and 80, the top model being a dual processor with up to 48Mb main memory, the other two offering 24Mb and 32Mb respectively. The new models, built in CMOS, are claimed to be 10% to 20% faster than the original Acos 430 models 10, 20 and 30 announced in February 1984. Ships start July and monthly rentals start at $16,000 for the 60, $19,000 the 70 and $27,500 the 80.
