NEC, SAP Japan partner to provide billing services through SaaS

SaaS utilises the "SAP(R) Convergent Charging" system to provide billing services

By CBR Staff Writer

IT and network technologies firm NEC and enterprise application software firm SAP Japan have signed a business partnership agreement to provide billing services through SaaS that operate on NEC’s cloud computing systems.

Under the new business partnership agreement, NEC and SAP Japan will provide the billing services as cloud-based SaaS that enable a reduction in initial investments, and are easy to expand. The SaaS utilises the "SAP(R) Convergent Charging" system to provide billing services.

In addition, the companies will support a wide range of businesses, including both large-scale enterprises and new businesses in emerging segments.

Target customers include telecom operators, cloud operators and service providers that offer digital content as well as NEC services such as M2M services, "CONNEXIVE" and mobile cloud platforms for smartphones will also use these new billing services.

NEC will also promote this business from its five regional competence centres throughout the world, while SAP Japan will conduct joint marketing and promotions at regional levels.

NEC said these new services are scheduled to begin in April 2012.
