NEC has launched new indoor LTE Femtocell base stations for telecom carriers to achieve improved wireless communications experience in indoor areas such as offices and homes.

The new indoor LTE Femtocell base stations are available in two models, one designed for enterprise and another for residential customers.

NEC’s RAN-GW (radio access network gateway) system will ensure a smooth and efficient transition to LTE, and help telecom carriers to reduce their capital investment spending, the company said,

The base stations connect to a telecom carrier’s core network through an indoor broadband connection, while the connections between the base stations and terminals occur over LTE. The stations automatically control radio wave interference.

The base stations also feature a plug-and-play functionality that configures the device simply by connecting it to the broadband line, without the need for any initial settings.
