Ncube Corp is looking to make its video server technology more accesible to the masses, and has now introduced a mid-range version – the MediaCUBE 300. It is a 19-inch rack-mounted system which can take up to 32 of nCube’s proprietary nCube3 CMOS processors, and is capable of delivering from 80 to over 1,100 concurrent broadcast quality MPEG video streams. The equates to up to 6,000 hours of content storage capabilities, or 7 to 8Tb of video data in a single shelf. IT fits between the PC-sized entry- level system, the eight processor MediaCUBE 30, and the high-end MediaCUBE 3000, which can theoretically scale up to 512 processors, arranged in a hypercube architecture. NCube servers incorporate Oracle Corp’s Oracle Video Server software. Pricing varies with configuration.
