NCR USES CDC’S FSD-340 DISK DRIVE IN ITS DISK FILE SYSTEM

By CBR Staff Writer

Following the announcement last week that Control Data Corp may only break-even this year, the company must be heartened to receive a paternal pat on the back from long-time buddy NCR Corp which has awarded Control Data’s new disk subsidiary Imprimis Technology Inc ship-to-stock status for the FSD-340 disk drive: the award means that the disk drive, which is used in NCR’s 6099 disk file subsystem, has reached NCR’s objectives for quality, on-time delivery, and reliability and therefore can be received into stores without checking; some achievement considering its parent company’s fourth quarter loss (CI No 1,058) was put down to slippages in shipments and production delays.
