Seems NCR Corp has not been seeing its big investment in IBM compatible personal computers as simply a stand-alone business: word from US sources is that the Dayton, Ohio company will next week come out with a mid-range processor in one of its proprietary families – running either the ITX or the IRX operating system – that has been designed to integrate personal computers tightly with the processor, which will run a bought-in SQL relational database, with Oracle Corp’s Oracle the likely choice.
