NCR UK, which manufactures in Dundee, is to endow a professorship of Mechatronics at the University there: the post will be filled on April 1 by Professor Jack Linsdale, currently professor of machine systems at Cranfield Institute of Technology; and for those whose suspicious minds were stirred by the date, mechatronics does exist and is a discipline covering applications of mechanical and electronic engineering, and Professor Linsdale will spend much of his time pursuing his patron’s projects.
