NCR TO ACQUIRE DATAGRAPHIX PRINTER ARM FROM ANACOMP

NCR Corp has signed to acquire the printer unit of Datagraphix, but on the block by Anacomp Inc, Indianapolis a month of two back. The printer unit, which had revenues of about $30m in 1986, markets and services a line of high-speed non-impact printers. The acquisition will be effective on November 2. The main business of Datagraphix, based in San Di-ego, is computer output micrographics equipment. Its printer unit markets and maintains a line of high-speed laser and ion deposition printers. NCR gets the printer maintenance business, marketing rights to its non-impact printers, and engineering rights to software and hardware features developed by Datagraphix. The unit has 112 employees. Terms of the sale agreement were not disclosed.
