NCR Corp’s figures arrived after the business page had gone to press yesterday and show second quarter net profit down 14% at $99m on turnover down 3% at $1,556m, and earnings per share off 9% at $1.51; the company says that orders were hit by the stronger dollar and were also down, as was business in the US, which more than offset a small rise in the international business; total international orders declined on a local currency basis in the quarter, reflecting a weakening of business conditions in Europe and the company expects that sales and profits for the year will be down.
