NCR Corp has been awarded a contract by BellSouth Corp to provide systems for the BellSouth Computing Architecture as part of the phone company’s strategy for open systems throughout its distributed computing environment: the initial project is the Regional Negotiations System, which will include installation of over 13,000 workstations and servers, X-terminals, multi-user systems, peripherals and networking products from various vendors, including NCR with its scalable System 3000 series 3400, NCR model 3445 uniprocessors, NCR model 3450 multiprocessors and its TowerView workstations for possible use in this and other open projects.
