NCR Corp’s NCR Comten unit in St Paul, Minnesota, is complementing its line of IBM 37XX-compatible communications processors by taking on the X25 packet switches manufactured by Telematics International Inc, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Comten has signed a long-term OEM agreement for the switches to cover the US and Europe, and NCR will also integrate the switches as nodes in its planned in-house Worldwide International Network linking its facilities on five continents. The agreement covers the Net 25 family of Programmable Communications Processors and Access Communications Processors; features include protocol conversion, IBM SNA access and switching, multiplexing and network management.
