NCR COMMENTS ON FINE YEAR-END FIGURES

By CBR Staff Writer

Commenting on NCR Corp’s very satisfactory year-end figures (see page 5), chairman and president Charles Exley noted that the dollar value of fourth quarter worldwide orders showed very good gains and set an all-time record; US orders showed gains, while the Europe and Pacific marketing groups recorded substantial gains although when valued in local currencies, orders outside the US declined slightly from a very strong fourth quarter in 1986; however even when valued in local currencies, revenue abroad showed good gains; the company says that research and development expenditure has grown at 8% a year over the past five years, but NCR plans to double the growth to 16% in the current year.
