Reston, Virginia-based NCI implements telecoms and network infrastructure and related applications to US federal government agencies including the Department of Defense, which accounted for 60% of its $138m revenue in the year to December 2002. It has 1,400 employees.

NCI said it was buying privately owned SES to expand its presence in the US intelligence community. SES, which is based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, made revenue of about $20m in full-year 2003, with 90% coming from providing information assurance, software engineering, and knowledge and enterprise management to government intelligence agencies.
