The practice seems harmless enough, but the US National Basketball Association has won a lawsuit against Motorola Inc, with Judge Loretta Preska in Manhattan ruling that it engaged in unlawful conduct with its pager device that provides accounts of games, and said Motorola must stop using the pager, the Associated Press reports, because the service isn’t licensed or authorized by the league. Stats Inc of Skokie, Illinois, which puts the information together, is also covered by the ruling, but damages and other claims of relief were denied.
