The network uses Navini’s Ripwave technology platform. Ripwave is similar in concept to the much-hyped WiMax system, but is based on proprietary time division duplexing technology known as multi-carrier synchronous CDMA.

Unwired’s Sydney NLOS wireless broadband network will go head to head with that operated by Personal Broadband Australia, the Australian subsidiary of Navini rival ArrayComm Inc. Unwired plans to build similar networks in several other Australian cities, including Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
