There does seem to have been an enormous amount of naughtiness going on at the constituents of Unisys Corp in the run-up to the merger, and it has to be said that most of it seems to be laid at Sperry Corp’s door: Robert Barrett, who used to work for the company’s fire-control division in Great Neck, New York, has been given a three-year suspended sentence and ordered to do 200 hours of community service – that’s about a working month – for his participation in a scheme to make illegal campaign contributions to former House of Representatives member the late Bill Chappell; Barrett is alleged to have been acting at the behest of his superiors at the company.
