National Semiconductor Corp says its patented neural fuzzy Windows-based NeuFuz4 software is now available in a C version. The new NeuFuz4-C enables programmers working on virtually any embedded processor to develop neural fuzzy applications; the original version ran only on NatSemi’s COP8 line of 8-bit microcontrollers, but the new one can be used with any ANSI C compiler. It is claimed to combine the strongest elements of fuzzy logic with the learning and generalisation capabilities of neural nets to learn and understand system behaviour, manipulate the information and develop code for embedded applications. A two-input, one-output learning kit for evaluation, limited to three membership functions and 50 data inputs, at $400. The complete four-input, one output system generates up to seven membership functions and supports an unlimited number of data inputs at $15,000.
