Nationwide have launched a new mobile banking app which is based on customer feedback.

The building society has said that a raft of improvements have been added to the app in order to give users the ability to manage multiple aspects of their finances.

Along with being able to manage money across a range of devices such as tablets and smartphones, those users that have Apple devices will also be able to log on using biometric technology with the Touch ID.

Additional features will see current account and credit card customers able to look back through 15 months on transactions, compared to one month on the previous version, while a new search function will allow users to locate a transaction by name, amount, or location.

Barnaby Davis, Nationwide’s Divisional Director Group Retail Strategy, said: “As a mutual, Nationwide is owned by and run for the benefit of its members. This is why when designing our new mobile banking app we listened to their views and have integrated many of the developments they said they wanted.”

As well as the ability to look back through more old transactions, users will also be able to update their settings, including managing overdrafts, updating personal details, arranging text alerts and choosing to receive paperless statements.

While a number of features have been added, the Society has retained several features that were available in the old app. These include Quick Balance, which allows customers to check how much money they have without the need to log in.

Impulse Saver functionality will also remain on the home screen, this feature enables customers to save up to £100 to their linked savings account without logging in.

“Our customers increasingly want to do their banking on the move and we believe the new app puts customers in the driving seat when it comes to their money. New dynamics such as fingerprint recognition, deep searches and the ability for customers to view their cash flows will give people more control at a time that suits them,” said Davis.

The app is now available from the App Store and Google Play Store, existing users can now download the upgrade.
