National Telecommunications Plc, the London PABX manufacturer and distributor has been busy since its highly successful initial public offering for the Full List of the London International Stock Exchange in July (CI No 967), buying companies in both the US and the UK. In the US, it has acquired Solid State Systems Inc, an Atlanta, Georgia designer, integrator and marketer of digital PABXs with automatic call distribution feature throughout the US. It claims a 7% share of the US market for such systems, and numbers Texaco, NBC, the Washington Post and federal and state government among its customers. The acquisition cost UKP3.3m. And in the UK, National Telecom has paid UKP2.3m for TVC General Telephones Ltd, fellow telecommunications products distributor with some complementary lines. And on its own account, National Telecom now has approval for its digital voice messaging system, and that and its new screen-based console for its proprietary London PABX range are to be launched in the US shortly by Solid State.
