NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR PICKS NEC AS ITS PARTNER ON NETWORKING CHIPS

By CBR Staff Writer

National Semiconductor Corp, already allied with Toshiba Corp on Flash memory and CMOS logic devices, has chosen NEC Corp as its Japanese partner on the fastest growing segment of its business, networking chips for use in local area network interface boards and controllers. The two companies will jointly develop new parts which should be ready for market in spring 1995, and in the interim, NEC will stick its own name on existing NatSemi parts for sale in Japan.
