NATIONAL SELLS ITS LEAD FRAME UNIT TO MALAYSIA PACIFIC INDUSTRIES

National Semiconductor Corp is to sell its Dyna-Craft Inc lead frame subsidiary to the semiconductor division of Malaysia Pacific Industries for between $50m and $100m. The company, which has 1,550 employees at sites in Santa Clara; Murrysville, Pennsylvania and Penang, Malaysia, makes the connection frame assemblies into which chips are soldered. It represents 3% of NatSemi’s sales.
