The UK power transmission monopoly National Grid Plc, owner of the nascent Energis Communications Ltd phone company, has appointed merchant bank Kleinwort Benson Ltd as advisor on its future options as a company: the company, currently owned by the 12 regional electricity companies is expected to seek a flotation either this year or early next, but it declined to comment on whether the appointment of Kleinwort was related to any plans to float; it also appointed the law firm of Herbert Smith as advisor.
