The first two parts of the transfer of National Advanced Systems to Hitachi Ltd from National Semiconductor Corp for $396m, and the subsequent purchase of a 20% stake by Electronic Data Systems Corp were completed on Monday, creating Hitachi Data Systems Corp for the purpose, although it appears that the National Advanced Systems name will continue for the time being. Gary Moore, a 16 year EDS vet, has been appointed president and chief executive. In Canada, Sand Technology Systems International Inc, in which Hitachi is already an investor, has 40% of NAS Canada Inc and NatSemi’s 60% passes to Hitachi Data Systems.
