National Westminster Bank has ordered an additional M960 Mass Storage System from Masstor Systems: the contract is valued at $5m and the machine will be installed at the bank’s new data centre in Staffordshire; it takes the bank’s total storage capacity to 9,000Gb, which is divided between an on-line back-up administrator system, a statement and group archive system, and a storage management system; this three centre mode of operation is planned to go live by January 1991; the workload will be shared by National Westminster’s three data centres in Staffordshire, Leicestershire, and East London.
