According to the agreement, IBM will continue to support National Account Service Company’s (Nasco) systems infrastructure in an effort to help the company accelerate its claims process, increase performance and lower costs.

Nasco provides health claim and membership services for health plan financier BlueCross and BlueShield.

Nasco’s CEO Mark Barnard said the company extended its contract with IBM after it experienced an increase in the annual number of claims processed.

In addition to the original IT services contract, which was signed in 2000, IBM said it is helping Nasco comply with new and emerging HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
