National Advanced Systems, now owned 80% by Hitachi Ltd, 20% by Electronic Data Systems Corp, has filed in Fulton County, Georgia Superior Court an attempt to block the installation of IBM mainframes at the State of Georgia’s Department of Administrative Services, on grounds that IBM got the business even though the state could allegedly have saved nearly $7m on a $24m contract by buying from National Advanced Systems and that a benchmark comparison of the vendor’s respective machines was not conducted in a uniform and fair manner, contrary to Georgia law: it says IBM has subsequently conceded the benchmark was not run uniformly.
