Nantucket Ltd, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, the UK subsidiary of the one-man California company Nantucket Corp, has upgraded its Clipper 5.0 application development tool. Version 5.01 includes a refined virtual memory management system and enhanced compatibility with Clipper Summer ’87. According to UK managing director George Fletcher, Clipper 5.0 has been snapped up since its launch in September – the initial production run of 40,000 copies went in the first three months, and by the new year sales of Clipper 5.0 had exceeded the total worldwide sales of Clipper Summer ’87. The new product will be sent to registered 5.0 users for no additional cost, and the software will be bundled with all Clipper 5.0 products shipped after May 1. Users of Clipper Summer ’87 and earlier versions of the product can upgrade for UKP150 until June 15. Clipper 5.0 is available for around UKP600 through Nantucket’s dealer network, which in the UK includes Frontline Distribution Ltd, Software Ltd and Softsel UK Ltd. Clipper is currently available only for MS-DOS environments, but Fletcher notes that his company is committed to providing versions for Windows, OS/2, the Apple Macintosh and Go Corp’s notebook operating system. Nantucket UK Ltd has 10,000 users and claims to be experiencing an annual revenue growth of 115%.
