The California-based security management specialist has released GroupShield 6.0 for Microsoft Exchange into beta testing. It makes use of Microsoft’s VS-API 2.5 anti-virus scanning application programming interface in Exchange 2003, and comes with an optional McAfee SpamKiller add-on.
SpamKiller includes technology that enables its content filtering products to scan for spam and undesirable code and content at the Internet gateway and mail server, as well as the desktop.
NAI said the new version of GroupShield would allow administrators to create rules that control whether mail is sent or received internally or externally. The product also contains McAfee Outbreak Manager to deal with mass-mailer outbreaks, as well as McAfee Alert Manager for malicious threat notification.
The support for Microsoft’s VS-API 2.5 anti-virus scanning application programming interface in Exchange 2003 enables GroupShield to provide scanning of all message bodies and attachments sent or received by a Microsoft Outlook client.
NAI’s GroupShield 6.0 for Exchange and SpamKiller for Exchange add-on will be available toward the end of the year
