Mylex Corp, the US storage management developer has begun shipping AcceleRAID 150, an entry-level RAID controller for servers and workstations. The Fremont, California-based company has deliberately priced the controller at the aggressive price of just $499. Ron MacLeod, vice-president of Mylex for the EMEA markets, said the pricing is designed to enable its OEM and distribution customers to expand their market for RAID-enabled servers and workstations. For the same reason, the new controller comes with RAID EzAssist, a configuration utility designed to simplify installation. Among the systems vendors that integrate AcceleRAID into their PC workstations and entry-level servers are Acer, Data General, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Intergraph, Micron, NEC, Packard Bell and Siemens.
