MURDOCH LAUNCHES CHINESE ON-LINE SERVICE

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp Ltd and China’s People’s Daily have launched an on-line computer information service in China. The ChinaByte Internet site will supply information technology news and data in Chinese to the growing base of Chinese Internetties. The service is the first fruit of a $5.4m 20-year joint venture between News Corp and the flagship Communist Party newspaper formed in 1995.
