Multisoft Financial Systems Ltd, the Alton, Hampshire- based subsidiary of accountancy software company Sage Group Plc, will launch Ultra, a client-server accounting package in the third quarter. Ultra was demonstrated at Softworld last September and is set to address the high- end personal computer accounting software market. It will be targetted at multinational companies that need an accounting package in several different languages and capable of automatic currency conversion, said marketing manager, Nigel Youell. Ultra has a Microsoft Corp Windows client and will run under Unix and NetWare networks connecting to Oracle and Informix databases via an SQL link, with additonal database support being added in 1996. Open Data Base Connectivity drivers within the software enable reports and enquiries to be generated in Microsoft Excel and Access. Multisoft predicts that Ultra will be its highest revenue earner by 1997 but in the meantime, short-term growth will come from Premier Plus. Multisoft has now released new versions of both its Premier Plus and Prestige accounting software. Prestige, a low-end package designed for small companies, will cost ú2,000 upwards. Premier Plus is aimed at the 25-plus user market and starts at ú9,000. Multisoft has incorporated Open Data Base Connectivity drivers into both packages in a move to increase its resellers’ ability to develop vertical applications around the software and thereby increasing profitability. Premier Plus will now ship with Electronic Data Interchange software, EDI-Link, designed to connect International Network Services Ltd Intercept-Plus EDI workstation software to Premier Plus. Multisoft says the demand for its EDI-Link software has been fuelled by moves from larger customers t o electronic data interchange that want their smaller suppliers to follow suite. EDI-Link is shipping for ú4,000. Multisoft has also developed Cash Book and Sales Statistic Plus modules for Premier Plus. Cash Book enables all cash transactions to be dealt with in one place, the same as if it were an actual Cash Book, registering an invoice, for example, and then confirming acceptance and payment, while Sales Statistic Plus improves reporting and budgeting. The company says it has also improved the performance of Premier Plus on NetWare networks to provide equal support for Unix and NetWare operating systems.
