Seven multinational companies have pledged support for the Hong Kong Government’s plan to turn the territory into a center for new technology. Venture-capital firm H&Q Asia-Pacific, database software maker Sybase and telecoms vendor Nortel Networks, laid out new and specific investment plans, with H&Q earmarking $150m to invest in IT firms over the next four years. Sybase Inc plans to open a multi-million dollar solutions center and Nortel plans to expand a support center.
