MULTIMEDIA CONVERGENCE OFFERS NEW ALL-SINGING SET-TOP

By CBR Staff Writer

Multimedia Convergence Corp of Chicago has announced its Home Multimedia System, a television set top box that combines digital video web browsing, data and telephony services over the internet. Multimedia Convergence is just the latest to offer such a device. Last month Teknema Inc released its Internet TV Set-Top Box; Boca Research Inc began shipping its BocaVision set-top internet access device; and videoconferencing specialist, Baraka Intracom Inc announced its WavTV device. The offering from Multimedia Convergence features high resolution DVD playback, customized online services, remote control and wireless keyboard and a 3D accelerated game player. The product will be priced close to the typical ‘sub $500’ figure.
