MSL’s multi-year project to integrate global operations throughout the supply chain began with the original deployment of i2 TradeMatrix Strategic Sourcing (TM) (previously Aspect Development) and culminated with the recent transition to i2 SRM.

Over the past 24 months, MSL’s business has experienced dramatic growth and the i2 SRM solution has assisted MSL to continuously refine its sourcing strategy to capitalize on supply chain opportunities. As a result of MSL’s successful global implementation of i2 SRM, MSL can now define an optimal sourcing strategy to reduce supply risks and costs, negotiate favorable terms and streamline the requisitioning and buying of both direct and indirect materials. These benefits will directly and positively affect MSL’s ability to provide world-class EMS services to its clients.

The EMS phenomenon has really forced a lot of companies to rethink their entire approach to strategic sourcing. Materials managers are all of a sudden realizing that they’ve lost a lot of control over material cost and assurance of supply, said Dave Horne, executive vice president of i2’s SRM Business Unit. MSL will utilize i2’s SRM solutions to identify and recommend preferred suppliers for its customers and to formulate a universal component management system that will standardize parts throughout the supply chain.
