Micro-Star Int’l (MSI) has rolled its new Xtreme Speed mainboard series, providing enhanced performance with the P55 chipset and support for Intel’s Lynnfield Core i7 and Core i5 processors. In addition, the Xtreme Speed mainboard series integrates three features – OC Genie, SuperPipe, and DrMOS.

Acording to MSI, the OC Genie automatically finds the BIOS settings to overclock system and enhances performance. SuperPipe’s heat-pipe is made with selected materials for cooling. Additionally, the DrMOS power supply’s module design offers enhanced power-saving.

Other features include: V-Kit, where V-Check Points combines with V-Switch’s V-Kit to provide power measurement pins and on/off switch; APS (Active Phase Switching), which can detect and shift the number of PWM Phases during loading; Winki 2.0, which is a free Linux-based O/S based on the Linux core providing internet environment that includes the functions such as internet surfing, web mail, instant messaging; and Direct OC, which is a function for overclockers allowing users to adjust the CPU frequency.

MSI said that the new P55 chipset also comes with a Power eSATA feature which improves the traditional eSATA standard with a new power supply feature; USB Safeguard which prevents mainboards and USB devices from short-circuit and ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) with Anti-ESD chips built-into the mainboard.
