Microsoft Corp likes to steal the show, and Reuters reporter Russell Blinch reports that the company turned up at this week’s Montgomery Securities investment conference in San Francisco this week all equipped to give an idea of its plans to enter the world of interactive television, demonstrating software where users would surf through a myriad of services, shows and even a toy store: Greg Ricker, Microsoft’s director of Future Home Technology, told the conference that the Redmond company is eager to enter the home entertainment business – We’re incredibly excited about it, he said; Microsoft is positioning itself to provide the standard operating system that controls the next-generation computerised television sets – or users will be able to attach set top computer boxes to existing televisions to provide access the new channels.
