Apparently the new release of IBM Corp’s MQSeries messaging middleware, Armada, will not hit the streets until around September although it was expected this summer (CI No 3,179). Meanwhile, IBM announced that it is now shipping its MQWare software developers kit free to ISV independent software vendors. MQWare – which currently runs only on Windows NT – is the stripped-down version of its high-end MQSeries messaging middleware. MQWare is only available to ISVs so they can embed it in their off-the-shelf software to enable secure and reliable messaging between applications. IBM says it may port MQWare to Unix and other platforms in line with the BQM strategy, to enable secure and reliable messaging between applications from different vendors.
