Mozilla 1.7 enhances online security

The open source Mozilla web browser suite has reached version 7.1, offering improved pop-up blockers, new e-mail features and greater authentication support.

By CBR Staff Writer

Mozilla 7.1 distinguishes itself from Microsoft Corp’s rival Internet Explorer browser with pop-up blocking, a feature that Microsoft plans to introduce with Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 2 later this year.

The suite’s Mozilla Mail supports multiple identities so users with more than one e-mail address can specify the reply address of an outgoing e-mail and customize functions such as signatures for different identities, while the browser also provides for an expanded number of authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, HTTP and POP 3 Secure Password. Version 1.7 is available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh OS X.
