Mozilla introduces Firefox 17 with Facebook Messenger integration

The new version is available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Android.

By CBR Staff Writer

Mozilla has released the latest version of its web browser, Firefox, which comes with a Social API and support for Facebook Messenger integration.

The new version, known as Firefox 17, is available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Android.

Mozilla said: Today’s Social API is just the beginning of making Firefox more social. We’ll soon add support for more features and multiple providers."

"We’ll also be listening to feedback from our early users to understand how Firefox can do more to keep them connected to their social lives online."

By using the Facebook Messenger Integration, the users will get a permanent side panel on their browser, even if they don’t have Facebook.com open in any of the tabs or window.

With the help of the side bar, the users will be able to update their Facebook status, communicate through chats, check notifications and even tag photos/videos.

The new Social API extends the App Tabs concept Mozilla introduced back in Firefox 4 and give websites a permanent place in the user’s browser window.
